F.A.Q.

How are the promotions organised?

The promotions can be found by clicking the "Promotions" button in the navigation header, located between the button for this page and the "wiki" section. Currently all promotions are separated by continent; Europe and North America (since America is large I preferred to subdivide it). In the selected continent or region, you'll be able to find the desired promotion, with each one having basic background information such as who founded it (NOT who currently owns it), the years they have / had been active and the geographical area they operate(d) in. Each promotions page also contain links to a breakdown of events ran (by year) and an entrance music list.

How are the events sorted?

The events are generally sorted by year, however sometimes I do make exceptions such as in the case of the secret season of CHIKARA. Likewise if a defunct promotion held fewer than twenty events total, those events will all be listed on a single page. For each event you will find all music used, plus information regarding the venue and the geographical location where the event took place. Here is an example from CZW's debut event:

Opening Night

Date: February 19th, 1999
Arena: CZW Arena
Location: Mantua, New Jersey, USA

-----[ENTRANCES]-----

The Sensational One - "Come with Me" by Puff Daddy feat. Jimmy Page
TCK - "Ruff Ryder's Anthem [Remix]" by DJ Clue? feat. DMX, Drag-On, Eve, Jadakiss & Styles P

How is the list sorted?

The list is ordered alphabetically by wrestler / tag team / stable name. For example:

-----[C]-----

Chris Bosh

-----[G]-----

Gran Akuma

-----[P]-----

Pinkie Sanchez

For each listing the themes are displayed in chronological order. Firstly, the songs will be assigned its numerical value (1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on), followed by a space, a hyphen and another space. For example:

Chris Bosh
1st -

After that will be the song's title in quotation marks, followed by the name of the artist(s) / band / composer(s). For example:

Chris Bosh
1st - "Photograph" by Def Leppard

Below this will be the release format of the song (album, EP, single, promo, mixtape etc.). This will usually be whatever format the song was originally released on.

Chris Bosh
1st - "Photograph" by Def Leppard
Album - Pyromania

However if the song was never "officially" released on physical media and was instead released through some other digital media platform such as YouTube, SoundCloud etc. then it will instead be assigned a release format of "N/A. See:

Chris Bosh
1st - "Photograph" by Def Leppard
--- N/A

Below the release information will be the event title and date from which the song was first used. For example:

Chris Bosh
1st - "Photograph" by Def Leppard
Album - Pyromania
-----> [Debuted "Best of the Best 5" May 14th, 2005]

How do you deal with gimmicks?

I am a big fan of kayfabe so unless a promotion officially acknowledges a (usually masked) wrestler's previous identity, I will be keeping the listings separate. This is pretty common in CHIKARA, where on their official 101 ProBoards forum it is a bannable offense to reveal the identity of a masked wrestler. In this context, saying Peter Parker and Spiderman are the same person would be wrong.

Why is a wrestler's name listed more than once in an entrance music list? What does the number in parenthesis mean?

This is rarely seen on the site but the number is added when multiple wrestlers have used the exact same name (but NOT the same gimmick) in the same promotion and is used to show which wrestler used the name first. An example of this is Deranged (1) and Deranged (2) in CZW, two completely separated wrestlers with completely different gimmicks but they used the exact same name, however Deranged (1) was in the promotion before Deranged (2) was, hence he is assigned the earlier numerical value. It should be noted that if the numerical value in parenthesis after a name is in Roman numerals (For example: "II" for 2) it means that it is a new wrestler continuing the other wrestler's gimmick (For example: Ophidian and Ophidian (II) in CHIKARA).

How are tag teams / stables shown in the events listing and entrance music lists?

As you might have seen in the answer to question 2, the team / stables' official name (if indeed there is one) is written followed by the names of all relevant members in parenthesis. See:

- Events:

Team F.I.S.T. (Gran Akuma & Icarus) - "Song 2" by Blur

- List:

Team F.I.S.T (Icarus & Gran Akuma)
1st - "Song 2" by Blur
Album - Blur
-----> [Debuted "Tag World Grand Prix 2003 - Night 1" July 5th, 2003]

However, if there is a trio or members and only a few of them have a team name, all of the members will be listed by their individual names. For example:

- Events:

Jigsaw, Mike Quackenbush & Shane Storm - "Break it Down Again" by Tears for Fears

- List:

Jigsaw, Mike Quackenbush & Shane Storm
1st - "Break it Down Again" by Tears for Fears
Album - Elemental
-----> [Debuted "Hors D'Ouerves, Dynamite" November 19th, 2005]

Jigsaw & Shane Storm are collectively known as ShaneSaw but since they do not have a team name that includes Quackenbush, their names will be displayed individually.

What are the criteria of tag teams to be included in the database?

The guidelines I follow to judge whether a tag team / stable is eligible for inclusion are:

1. The team / stable use(d) a unique song that no team member used in singles competition, or they use a mix of the members' singles songs. For example: Greg Excellent & Pinkie Sanchez using "Billie Jean" in CZW back in 2009 or Drew Galloway & Johnny Gargano using a mix of their singles music in EVOLVE back in 2016.
2. The team / stable must have a unique name and not just be "Wrestler X & Wrestler Y". However, what I am NOT going to list are teams named after their captain, for example: Team Gerard, named after its captain, Vin Gerard, but if the team is named by a nickname or the home promotion's name/initials, it will be included.
3. The team / stable must have had three or more matches together. This for me is the most important aspect since not all of the teams has an exclusive theme song nor an unique name. Take Brad Bradley & Ryan Boz from IWA: Mid South as an example. Even though the duo never received a team name nor had unique entrance music, they teamed constantly while coming out to their singles music.

What does the color red mean?

The colour red is used to indicate that some aspect of the information highlighted is unknown, it is usually used in conjuction with four question marks ("????") to illustrate this fact. The exception to this on the entrance music lists where you will sometimes see an event title and date shown in red for a listing, in this instance it means that the date given is the earliest confirmed usage of the song, but might not actually be the first time it was used in that promotion.

What are the tags that you use for songs?

The tags I use are:

- Edit: The song has been modified in some way to be different from the original song. This is usually used to indicate a short section of the original song has been removed. However, the edit must be used more than once in order to get the tag.

- Intro: A short clip (usually consisting of a wrestler's quote, a soundbyte from a movie and / or a short section from another song in various combinations) has been added to the start of the song.

- Mashup: A combination of two or more songs (not to be confused with "Intro"), exclusively made for use in a pro-wrestling context, for example: Die Brudeschaft des Kruezes using a mashup of "Engel" by Rammstein feat. Bobo and "Engel" by Gregorian. It is worth noting that "official" mashups are also used from time to time, such as "50 Inch Nails" by Inhumanz, which is an official mashup of "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails and "In da Club" by 50 Cent, which was used by The Hi-V in CZW.

- Mix: There are many commercially available songs with this tag, but in this context it is used to indicate when a quote has been added to a song that pertains to a wrestler, but is not said by the wrestler themselves. The "Mix" tag will be displayed after the wrestler's name in the song title, for example: "Big Ego's [GQ Mix]" by Dr. Dre feat. Hittman. If quotes can be heard throughout a song but it cannot be determined if they pertain to the wrestler or not, it will be given the a "quotes mix" tag. This also applies to movie soundbyte clips as long as it plays throughout the duration of the song, for example: "Funk Phenomena [Chris Rock: Never Scared Mix]" by Armand Van Helden used by Pinkie Sanchez in CZW.

- Remix: There are millions of these but in this context it is for wrestlers' custom music. This is rarely used but when a song is completely modified, such as Jason Gory's "Death March" by Motionless in White or Rory Mondo's "Last Resort" by Papa Roach, this tag will be added after the wrestler's name in the same fashion as the "Mix" tag.

Other more general tags such as "instrumental", "clean version / radio edit / radio mix" and "demo version" are not noted as they are an aspect of the original song as it was released and not any form of post-release modification.

What does the asterisk mean in the events section?

An asterisk (*) is used to indicate a scenario that is important at the time of listing a song. Here are a few examples:

Scenario #1: A wrestler entered to another wrestler's theme, either to fool the crowd or parody the wrestler.
Scenario #2: A manager walks out to their client's music to announce that their client will not compete in the scheduled match.
Scenario #3: A wrestler accompanies a tag partner or stable mate for their match concludes another (usually impromptu) match starts where the wrestler has to compete without getting his own entrance.
Scenario #4: A wrestler is accompanied to the ring by another wrestler but uses the accompanying wrestler's music.
Scenario #5: A wrestler's entrance is muted or cut entirely from the broadcast / DVD but is played briefly after the match. An example of this can be seen below with Daizee Haze's entrance:

How do you deal with removed entrances?

The thing is not all promotions show love for entrances in general. Some promotions cut entrances to save time on the DVD releases / live broadcasts, while others do it to avoid copyright infringement due to the extensive use of mainstream music. If all entrances were removed but the match winner's music was played after the match (or during an in-ring segment of some kind), a note written in block capitals will be added stating this. Sometimes if a couple of entrances remain intact on the event, these exceptions will be noted, however if more entrances are shown than not, the note is not required and instead an asterisk (*) will be used and the losers' entrances will be listed as removed. Some notable examples of this are the CHIKARA shows in Japan and the early PROGRESS and Fight Club: PRO shows.

Unfortunately some promotions remove entrance and post-match celebrations entirely, which makes it impossible to know what music was used. PWG is infamous for this as all events after their "Tango & Cash Invitational - Night 2" event from 2004 have all traces of entrances and post-match celebrations removed, making it impossible to document the vast majority of themes used in that promotion, however all shows of theirs prior to that point did include entrances, and those events have been documented on this site. The reason no further additions will be made to PWG's events is because I would rather base the information presented here on facts that I can personally verify instead of speculating on what might have been used.

What happens if two or more companies host an joint event?

This tends to be addressed on a case by case basis, but the event in question will always be attributed to only one of the promotions involved.

What if an event was not held by a specific promotion?

These unbranded events can be found in #Miscellaneous". The hashtag is added for formatting reasons (namely so it can be displayed at the top of the list), it was not added just to look cool.

This guy wrestled a singles match, why do you have a different wrestler listed?

There are times when a wrestler walks out with his tag partner or stable mate and, through booking decisions takes his partner's place in a match, or an impromptu tag match is booked etc. A lot of scenarios can play out so this varies on a case by case basis, but if a listing differs for some reason rest assured it is always intentional and done with a reason.

A wrestler appeared at an event despite not using music, why is this not listed?

I avoid these entrances as much as possible as listing every instance of this would make the site look incredibly cluttered. The only way I can list a wrestler NOT using an entrance song is if the wrestler is entering a match already in progress (for example: a Royal Rumble style match). Other than that, there is no possible way of documenting it and keeping the site tidy. However, if music is not used by a wrestler during an entrance for a match but is used when entering to the ring for a promo or segment on the show, a listing will be added.

Why are there no images on the site?

There are two reasons for this; firstly it is very time consuming and secondly I want to avoid committing copyright infringement and running the risk of getting this site shut down. So sorry, this site is and will remain plain text only.

Why does your site not have download links to songs?

I know providing the ability to download songs would be a great feature, but it would also be the quickest way to get hit with a copyright strike and potentially a "Cease & Desist" letter, so in order to avoid that and keep this site going I will not be providing download links to any songs on this site.

Do you have ____ wrestler's custom theme music?

I hate to say it but if I did get a wrestler's custom music I definitely would NOT share it. Being trusted with something like that should be considered a privilege as that wrestler has chosen to trust you with a copy of something that was made specifically for him / her. If they wanted everyone to have a copy they would likely make it available through their Twitter or a SoundCloud account etc. It is not unheard for wrestlers to give out a copy of their custom music to people willing to reach out to them on social media (or put you in contact with whoever made it for them), but it certainly should not be expected and if they do trust you with something like that then that trust should be respected. What I can provide you with however are recordings of any unknown tracks that you might be interested in.

How many people work on this site?

Only one, and since I am a one man band doing all of the site maintenance, checking the shows, fixing mistakes etc. it all takes time. I appreciate the people that are willing to reach out and help though. Being that I maintain this website alone it takes a lot of time and effort to keep up-to-date with everything so this site is only updated when I can find the time to do so.

Is there any way I can help or contribute?

Of course! You can help me by identifying any unknown songs or by pointing out any errors you might find around the site (I only ask you not be rude in doing so please). Any big way you can help is by checking and documenting currently unlisted events and sending me a list of all of the songs used through that event via email, which you can find in the "Contact" section of the site.

Anything else I should know?

Please keep in mind that all information on this site is presented from the editor's (ie: my) point of view, this site archives the songs used in each promotion and that information is for reference only from which your own conclussions should be drawn (ie: how a theme count should be structured etc.). I am however open to suggestions, but please keep in mind I reserve the right to either agree OR disagree with your suggestions, but know that I will always give a reason in the instance of the latter and all input is greatly appreciated! I hope you learn something new browsing this site and find the information contained within useful.
